The Codex

Objective

Destroy the enemy Town Center to win. If your Town Center falls, you lose.

Getting Started

  • You start with a Town Center and 3 Villagers in the bottom-left corner.
  • Right-click a forest, gold mine, or berry bush to send Villagers to gather resources.
  • Villagers auto-return gathered resources to the nearest drop-off building, then go back for more.
  • Build Houses to increase your population cap (+5 each, max 50).
  • Build military buildings (Barracks, Archery Range, Stable) to train soldiers.
  • Research upgrades at the Blacksmith to make your army stronger.

Combat Triangle

Units deal 1.5× bonus damage against the types they counter:

UnitStrong AgainstWeak Against

SpearmanCavalrySwordsman
ArcherSpearmanCavalry, Swordsman
CavalryArcher, VillagerSpearman
Mix unit types in your army. A balanced force handles any enemy composition.

Fog of War

The map starts hidden. Your units and buildings reveal nearby tiles. Areas you've explored but can't currently see appear dimmed — you can see the terrain but not enemy units there.

Villager

HPAttackArmorSpeedCostTrain Time
25301.250 Food15s

Your economic backbone. Gathers resources, constructs buildings, and can fight in a pinch (but poorly). Carries up to 10 resource units at a time. Right-click a resource to start gathering. They auto-return to the nearest drop-off when full.

Swordsman

HPAttackArmorSpeedRangeCostTrain Time
50820.9Melee60 Food, 20 Gold12s

Heavily armored melee fighter. Excellent against Archers thanks to high armor absorbing their damage. Trained at the Barracks.

Strong vs: Archer   Weak vs: Spearman

Spearman

HPAttackArmorSpeedRangeCostTrain Time
40611.0Melee35 Food, 25 Wood10s

Anti-cavalry specialist with a long reach. Cheap and fast to train, making them ideal for quick defense. Trained at the Barracks.

Strong vs: Cavalry   Weak vs: Swordsman

Archer

HPAttackArmorSpeedRangeCostTrain Time
30601.05 tiles25 Wood, 45 Gold14s

Ranged attacker who fires arrows from a distance. Devastating against Spearmen but fragile — keep them behind your melee line. Trained at the Archery Range.

Strong vs: Spearman   Weak vs: Cavalry, Swordsman

Cavalry

HPAttackArmorSpeedRangeCostTrain Time
801021.8Melee80 Food, 60 Gold18s

Fast, powerful, and expensive. Excels at running down Archers and raiding enemy villagers. Vulnerable to massed Spearmen. Trained at the Stable.

Strong vs: Archer, Villager   Weak vs: Spearman

Construction

Villagers walk to the build site and construct over time. The building starts at 10% HP and becomes functional once complete. Multiple villagers on the same site build faster.

Training Units

Select a production building (Town Center, Barracks, etc.) and click a unit button in the command panel. Up to 5 units can be queued. Units spawn adjacent to the building when complete. Right-click to set a rally point.
